Sadequain

Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi (1930–1987), known simply as Sadequain, was a prolific and celebrated Pakistani artist and poet, often referred to as “the Picasso of Pakistan”. A self-taught and unorthodox artist, he was a master calligrapher and painter whose style fused Eastern traditions with Western influences. A key figure in the hurufiyya art movement, he was credited with bringing Islamic calligraphy into the realm of modern expressionist painting. His vast body of work, estimated at more than 15,000 pieces, was frequently inspired by social commentary and the struggles of the working class.
