Arslan Naqvi

Arsalan Naqvi is a contemporary Pakistani artist known for his expressive figurative works that explore human emotions, social realities, and symbolic narratives. Born in Hyderabad, Pakistan in 1984, Naqvi developed a strong interest in visual arts early in his life and pursued formal training in fine arts at the Khan-e-Farhang Cultural Centre of Iran in Hyderabad. He further refined his artistic skills through professional training at R.M. Naeem Studio in Lahore.

Naqvi’s artistic practice primarily focuses on painting, portraiture, and figurative compositions. His work often depicts men, women, and children from everyday life, particularly reflecting the realities of rural communities and marginalized groups in interior Sindh. Through the use of charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media, he creates emotionally charged imagery that captures the vulnerability, innocence, and resilience of human subjects. Many of his artworks symbolically portray the lives of street children, using visual metaphors and expressive forms to highlight social inequality and forgotten segments of society.

Over the years, Arsalan Naqvi has actively participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. His work has been shown in galleries and art spaces across Pakistan, including Karachi and Islamabad, and internationally in cities such as Fossano, Italy, and Kolkata, India. In 2009, he held a solo exhibition at Alliance Française in Karachi, which marked an important milestone in his career.

Naqvi’s contributions to the art community have also been recognized through awards and achievements. He won first prize in the National ADS Control Program Poster Competition in Islamabad (2007) and received third prize in the Saadqain Award Competition in Karachi.

Through his deeply personal and socially conscious work, Arsalan Naqvi continues to use art as a medium to express compassion, memory, and the human condition, transforming everyday realities into powerful visual narratives.
